Welcome to Unknown App Detector. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle user data when you use our app.
We do not collect, store, or share any personal or sensitive information from users.
Our app does not require users to sign up or create an account.
We do not track, monitor, or collect any user activity within the app.
Since we do not collect any user data, we do not share any information with third parties.
Our app may request certain permissions to function properly, such as access to installed apps, but this information is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to any external servers.
Unknown App Detector includes an optional App Locker feature that lets you protect individual apps on your device with a PIN.
PIN storage: Your PIN is never stored as plain text. It is hashed using SHA-256 with a unique random salt and saved only in your device's local storage. Your PIN is never transmitted to us or any third party, and we cannot see, recover, or reset it on your behalf.
No recovery: Because we never have access to your PIN, if you forget it there is currently no way to recover it through the app. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app will remove all App Locker data, including saved PINs and the list of locked apps.
Permissions used by App Locker:
Display over other apps — used to show the PIN screen immediately when you open an app you have locked.
Usage Access — used only to detect when a locked app has been opened, so the PIN screen can be shown. We do not collect or transmit your app usage history.
Run in background (foreground service with notification) — a persistent, low-priority notification ("App Locker is active") is shown while App Locker is protecting your apps. This is required by Android to keep the feature running reliably.
Run at device startup — used so your locked apps remain protected after you restart your device, without needing to reopen Unknown App Detector first.
See installed apps — used across the app to detect unknown/unauthorized apps, check for updates, and let you choose which installed apps to protect with App Locker. This information stays on your device and is not transmitted anywhere.
All App Locker data (PIN hashes and the list of apps you have chosen to lock) is stored only in your device's local app storage and is permanently deleted if you uninstall the app.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted within the app or on our website.
